Jam on Graham

[This entry was originally posted on my MySpace blog. It was transferred to WordPress on 1/20/2013.]

| Seldom the Optimist | Resurrected | A First Time for Everything | Room 511 | Potatoes & Cream | Horrid Little Man (abandoned) | Liza’s Mine | Out of the Frying Pan | The Nighttime | I’m Not Feeling Well Today | The City’s Calling | Day 9 |

Today’s event was “Jam on Graham” sponsored by Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. It could have been a great event. In fact, Rory planned the thing all summer but then at the last minute, multiple parties royally screwed him in the backside. It was a part of NSU’s “September Slam”, encouraging new students to attend happenings on campus. Musicians performed atop the steps of Graham Hall on the campus green and the crowd was on the sidewalk below. It really could have been a great event if the publicity had actually been taken care of. As it was there were roughly seven people in attendence, as well as people meandering nearby to and from the dining hall.

It’s never too amazing to play to an empty house, but we made the most of it. Outdoor shows are always fun so that made up for it a bit. I also got a chance to try out some of my new, unreleased material. It seemed to go over well and it was a good warm-up for Saturday night at the Red Rooster.

I started to play “Horrid Little Man” today, but abandoned it due to forgetting how to play it. Yikes.

I played “The Popsicle Song” (I’m Not Feeling Well Today) especially for Bonny today. And she so kindly said that it totally made her day, and THAT makes me happy. Also, this was the second show of mine that Liza has ever attended and I was glad to have her there.

I hadn’t played a show for eight months before today. But I feel like I just jumped right into it. It felt good.

Also performing were Julia Wakal on accordian and Altman Studeny on ukelele.
